“Discrimination Against Women Pakhwada”– ‘Thappad’ & ‘Secret Superstar’ Screening

Screening of ‘Thappad’ and ‘Secret Superstar’ at the Kennedy Auditorium

The University Film Club is never on a break! The UFC and the AMU’S Cultural Education Centre, alongside the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) AMU, Ministry of Education (Government of India), organised an enlightening event against gender violence, entitled ‘Discrimination Against Women Pakhwada’. This two-day programme was held on the 7th and 8th of December, 2022 at the Kennedy Auditorium, AMU.

The event drew in a huge audience to the CEC Complex of AMU, where students and everyone interested came to listen in and watch the screening of two excellent films revolving around womanhood and its challenges.

‘Thappad’ (2020) by Anubhav Sinha was screened on the 7th of December.

And ‘Secret Superstar’ (2017) by Advait Chandan on the 8th of December.

This awareness event aimed to promote and encourage a general understanding of gender-related struggles. Thus, it was very rewarding to have such a large number of spectators at the auditorium. The UFC is extremely honoured to have hosted an event with such a critical message, especially in an academic sphere, and look forward to more opportunities.
